Hey All,
over the past little while I have been working on an M1A2 Abrams tank for Lockdown, as well as working on some level mock ups. I have nearly completed texturing the tank, however there are a couple of things which I still need to work on. The tracks need a better texture, the antenna's need to have a different texture, and the front...

[Lockdown Blog] Lockdown Graphics Upgrade

Hey all! I have been busy for the past little while, so I haven't had lots of time to work on Lockdown. However I did do a few things, First off I decided to get the Torque3D. It has beautiful graphics and many other useful tools. So I have began to work on the first level and I also redid the training level.
Over my holidays I plan to try and get a few things accomplished:

Destructible Objects/Environment - I am going to play with the physics and try and implement nearly 100% destructible objects.

Simple Weapon(s) for testing destruction and doing bullet tests.

Character Model - Finish the main character model and rig it.

Finish the first level's mapping

Well that is basically it for now. Here are a few screen shots of the new engine in action:

[Lockdown Blog] Black Hawk

Progress is slow but things seem to be coming along. We have been working on vehicles for Lockdown so I thought I would post one of the works in progress. I have been working on making a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.

Here are are a couple pictures of the first attempt at the helicopter:
http://www.faintmedia.com/i/images/junk/blackhawk/blackhawko1.png

http://www.faintmedia.com/i/images/junk/blackhawk/blackhawko2.png

I was happy with the overall shape, but some parts of it still did not look right. So I went back and decided to change some things on it.

http://www.faintmedia.com/i/images/junk/blackhawk/blackhawkn1.png

http://www.faintmedia.com/i/images/junk/blackhawk/blackhawkn2.png

http://www.faintmedia.com/i/images/junk/blackhawk/blackhawkn3.png

http://www.faintmedia.com/i/images/junk/blackhawk/blackhawkn4.png

I still have to texture it and add more detail (such as the landing gear), but so far I am quite happy with the look of it

Yesterday I was able to make a lot of progress on Lockdown. I began to work on the first map, which is the training map. So far I have most of the major buildings complete, but there is still lots to add into the level. Here are the things which still need to be completed:

Vehicles around air strip

Weapons Tables

Targets

...

Lockdown Soldier Head

Today after reading some peoples comments on another site about the head model I decided to go back and completely re-do it to make it lower poly. After a hour or so I came up with a new model that has way less polys, plus I also changed some of the shape to the head.

Here is the original:

New:

The original mesh:

New:

The entire new mesh contains about 250 polys, compared to the old mesh which contained about 700 in HALF of the model. I also decided to do a better job textured this one, instead of having each half of the head the same texture I made everything one texture.

Lockdown Soldier Concept

Hey everyone,

Wow, it has been quite some time since I have posted any updates. Over the past few days I have been thinking about what the soldiers should look like in Lockdown. So I made a little sketch and decided to fire up Blender and see what happens. At the moment I only have the base model done for the body of the soldier, so it doesn't look like much. However I have my first concept soldier head done. I still need to play with the texture to get it looking right in some spots (the texture is stretched in areas), but overall I am fairly happy with the outcome of the model.
Here are some pictures of the head:

I really hope to get the body looking good, attach the head then rig the body and get the character into the game engine and see how it all goes. That's all for now.

dEcade and I recently got back from a trip, and on that trip I took some photos of all around the city, so I am now going through the photos and creating different textures with them. I hope to have some buildings textured with these new ones soon so then I can post some images for everyone to see!

Golden Skies

Golden Skies is the first map we are developing for Lockdown. It will have every type of vehicle and it will be used to test out all of the features we will be adding. Once the main features are done we will be developing more maps for the game. This map will be the one we release when the game enters the testing stages. So far we have the basic landscape set up and we are working on getting all of the scenery (sky, water etc.) looking the way we want it to before we start adding buildings and other things into the map.

Summer is Nearing

As summer is approaching I have been thinking more and more about what games Faintmedia develop. I think I have come apon the decision of making a war game that will most likely be an online only game (no single player will cut down on having to code AI). We are planning to go this rought because we do have a server that I believe would work for this, however we still need to test it. So the plan for this is to create a simple map and demo type game for testing online play and getting the core of the game coded, then we will release the full game with many map packs. We also plan to have a ranking/stats system with the game, so that too will be tested with the demo version.
