Hello, today we've changed the name of our framework. During the pre-alpha and alpha stages we called it "Broken" but we have decided to change it's name. We have now launched our first beta build of the script. It will now be called Supercell. Supercell can now be downloaded at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/supercell/
We understand that it is very hard to learn anything without documentation. That is why we are currently building a script called Handbook. Handbook is a knowledgebase system, so once we have finished that script we can begin creating documentation for Supercell. Our plans are to have function information as well as tutorials to show you how to use the script.

Broken 1.0.0 Alpha 1

Today we've released Broken 1.0.0 Alpha 1. The script is nearing a more complete stage. There are still a few parts that are not done that is why we released it as an Alpha. Now that it is in the alpha stage we will begin bug tracking and finishing up the different areas that still need completing. Once it appears the script is completed it'll be released in Beta for further bug testing and finally in RC before release. We want to try and make it very solid and stable before it is fully released. So if you find any bugs please report them so we can check them out and fix any problems.

Broken Framework Update

We've redeveloped the Broken framework to be more of a framework rather than just a bunch of functions you can call. We have designed it so that there is a application and system folder. You shouldn't have to touch the system folder unless you are installing a bundle (Basically a plugin) this allows updates for all scripts that use it to be easier. You will spend most of your time in the public folder located in the application file.

We designed it to have three levels of control. First is the controllers. These handle all requests and data that you want. From the controllers you call models. Models are used to handle different template functions so if there is an error you can call the error model and pass your own error from the controller to the model. Each controller function can call a number of models depending on whats happening at that point in time. Then each of the model functions can call the template files. Models are used to handle all of the template data we need. All the template files are basic html files with different template variables in them.

The basic idea
index.php will do everything for you.
Controllers -> Handle all data such as post errors ect. They then call a model to display information to the user.
Models -> Getting data from the controller and displaying the template
Template -> HTML to make it look pretty for you.

Adding your own classes
We already have a large number of stuff you can call from the frameworks system but if you need your own classes to handle different items or call multiple items from the system you can do that. There is a libs folder in the application folder that allows you to create separate classes files from the system to allow easier upgrades. Then when you need a function you can call it in your controller or models construct function.

Settings
There is a number of settings folders that are in a basic download. We allow you to add your own so if you have other settings you need to change inside your application you can add them there. There is always one function that will be called to get the settings array but if you need to get data from somewhere else, a database for example you can have other functions in there to gather different information and then just have your array output it.

Configs
We have a few different config files which can be deleted if your application is going to create them when it is installed. First is the database.php file. This holds your database information. The systems database class will not attempt to connect to a database until the information in that file is filled out. You can also set in the settings folder if you want to use mysql_pconnect or just mysql_connect. There is a paths file, here you can set what is the index controller is ($default_path) it is currently set to welcome which means it will run the welcome.php controller if you are on the index. Then it has the default location ($default_location) this tells what function is should run from the controller. By default it is set to index so that means it is going to attempt to run the function index unless stated otherwise in the paths file or url. Then we have $webpath and $basepath. These will usually change unless you are doing an app for your website and no other. They are basically the full path to the files and the http address.

Logs
The Broken framework will log all of the errors for you in the logs folder unless turned off. You can also log information to a database. This can all be changed in the settings folder.

Account Methods
We have a huge number of account methods that are going to be built into the application. This is the list so far.

Drupal 5.x

Drupal 6.x

Facebook Connect

IP.Converge

IPB 2.3.x

IPB 3.0.x

Joomla 1.5.x

OpenID

phpBB 2.0.x

phpBB 3.0.x

SMF 1.1.x

SMF 2.0.x

WordPress 2.8.x

ZenCart 1.3.x

This is not the final list we may add more or remove some. This is just what we have planned. This allows for more flexible and applications.

Other Bundles
Bundles are basically plugins.

This is the current list of bundles we will have built in.

jQuery - Basic jQuery functions

Akismet

ReCAPTCHA

TinyMCE

Once again this is not the final list.

System Libraries
We are working away at adding more and more functions to the system and we have our work cut out for us.

Here is just some of the built in functionallity

File/Template Cache

Clean text to make sure its good for the database

Valid Emails

String hash with salt

BBCode - Allows custom BBCode

Word censor

MySQL Database connect with either mysql_connect or mysql_pconnect

SQL query builder

Basic SQL queries - raw SQL query

Number of SQL queries on a given page.

File redirect

Get vars function used for clean htaccess

Bot checker - Is the current user a bot if so whos bot?

File Filter

Image Filter

Custom Filter - Make your own!

Form functions

Text box

Text area

Check box

Radio button

Drop Down

Submit Button

PayPal Button

Multilanguage

Error Logs

Media

Image

Flash

Shockwave

QuickTime

Youtube

Vimeo

Template System

XML Processor

RSS Creator

Pagination

Database Search

File Search

Simple encoder/decoder

We are still busy working away at many different parts of the script and have a long to do list that should keep us busy. I just wanted to let everyone know what we are working on and give a bit of an idea of how it works. We will have very detailed documentation when the script is released.
