Tutorial Release Date: Tuesday, June 13th. 2006
This tutorial will show you how you can create a mug for your scenes. For this tutorial I am using blender 2.14 lets start.
Please Note: When it says use the E key, you want to hit E 1 or E then extrude region, or E1 then Only Edges.
Open up blender and delete the default cube. Now add a tube, Space bar - Add - Mesh - Tube, make sure the vertexes are set to 32.
from the top view you should have this so far:
Posted Image

Now go to the front view (numpad 1) hit the A key to deselect all of the vertexes, now hit the B key and select all of the vertexes.
It should look like this:
Posted Image

Now extrude all of the vertexes by hitting the E key - only edge then scale them in slightly, it should look something like this:
Posted Image

Now with the vertexes you just extruded, extrude them again with the E key - only edge and scale them inward with the S key. now hit the G key and move them upward.

It should now look like this:
Posted Image

Now extrude them again using the E key and scale them inward to look like this:
Posted Image

Now we need to close up the gap and the bottom will be complete. So extrude one more time, you do not need to scale these but do not deselect these. To close them hit F9 to go to editing. find a box that is titled mesh tools. inside the box there is a button that says Rem Doubles and beside it there is a box with numbers in it. for the numbers I used 0.975 then I clicked the Rem Doubles button, and then you get one vertex (If you do not get one vertex simple keep raising the number until you do).
Posted Image

Then I positioned it in the center of my object Now it looks like this:
Posted Image

The bottom is now complete.
Now we need to make the inside. So deselect all vertexes (A key) and hit the B key and select all of the top vertexes like this:
Posted Image

Extrude the top vertexes (E key) and scale them inwards slightly (S key) it should look like this:
Posted Image

Now extrude the vertexes and move them downward. Once that is done it should look like this:
Posted Image

Now there is a space inside the mug, to close this we will do the same thing as when we closed the bottom.
So extrude (E key) and scale inward (S key) a bit so it should look like this:
Posted Image

We will extrude (E key) in again and scale (S key) in a bit (quite near the center) and you should have something like this:
Posted Image

Extrude (E key) one more time and scale it in (S key) and it should look like this:
Posted Image

Now we need to put these all as one vertex. So we need to use the rem double tool. To do this hit F9 to go to editing. find a box that is titled mesh tools. inside the box there is a button that says Rem Doubles and beside it there is a box with numbers in it. for the numbers I used 0.975 then I clicked the Rem Doubles button, and then you get one vertex (If you do not get one vertex simple keep raising the number until you do). This is the EXACT same method we used to close the bottom.
Posted Image

Once this is done make sure you center the vertex. So far it should look like this:
Posted Image

Now it is time to add the handle.
To do this we need to use the Loop Cut tool. so hit CTRL-R and roll over the mesh, and you will see a line, click and move it to about this position:
Posted Image

click so the vertexes stay there.
Now do that 4 more times in, look at the picture below to see the placement, there are red arrows pointing to where they should go (the first cut is on there too):
Posted Image

Hit Numpad 3 to go to the side view then the Z key so you can see the solid. Select the following vertexes:
Posted Image

Now go back to the front view (numpad 1) and extrude the vertices outwards. Now slightly rotate (R key) the extruded vertices downwards then hit delete then click face. It should look like this so far:
Posted Image

When you look at them you can see they are un-even, so scroll up so you can see the next part of the grid select the un even vertices and hit Shift-S.
They will still probably be un even so select 4 of the vertexes (from the side view it looks like 2) and over lay them with the other ones and hit Shift-S again. It should look like this now:
Posted Image

Now extrude out again (E key) and rotate (R key) it down again, it should look like this now:
Posted Image

Do the same think one more time and it should look like this (extrude out again (E key) and rotate (R key) it down again):
Posted Image

Now half of the handle is done. So now we need to keep extruding it till we get to the bottom. So extrude 3 more time till you get to this point:
Posted Image

A quick thing with a minor problem you may have happened to you is in the side view not the whole handle is even. so just scale it slightly to make it right.

Select these vertexes and then hit delete then faces:
Posted Image

Now select these vertexes, we need to join them all to do this we will use the Rem Double tool.
Posted Image

So go to Editing (F9) and use these settings:
Posted Image

hit Tem Double and they should join.
The mug is near completion. Under Editing click Add Modifier then subsurf. set the settings like this:
Posted Image

Now in still under Editing click Set Smooth. and now your done!
Your final result should be something like this:
Posted Image

You will be able to set your own materials.
